In this newsletter edition, we are pleased to inform you, among other topics, about four new programs and add-on modules which have been released with the latest customer version X.07.01. For example, SHAPE-THIN 8 includes now a new user-friendly interface. We summarized all new features of the current program versions in the brochure "New in RFEM 5 & RSTAB 8".

In addition, we present the customer project "Brock Commons". The 18-story student residence is to be the tallest mass timber hybrid building in the world when completed in summer 2017.

The stand‑alone cross-section properties software SHAPE‑THIN 8 includes now many new features and the graphical user interface adjusted to RFEM/RSTAB.

RF-PUNCH Pro

In comparison with the previous module version RF‑PUNCH, the new RF‑PUNCH Pro add‑on module performs the design of punching shear resistance not only for singularly supported surfaces (columns) but also for linearly supported surfaces (wall ends, wall corners).

RF-/STEEL Plasticity

RF-/STEEL Plasticity is an extension of the RF‑/STEEL EC3 add‑on module.

This software allows you to perform plastic design of cross-sections according to Partial Internal Forces Method (PIFM) and Simplex Method. It is possible to apply the second‑order analysis with 7 degrees of freedom including warping torsion (requires module extension RF-/STEEL Warping Torsion).

RF-/ALUMINUM ADM

The RF-/ALUMINUM ADM add-on module performs the ultimate and the serviceability limit state designs of members and sets of members according to the American standard ADM 2010.

18‑Story Mass Timber Hybrid Student Residence

Dlubal Customer: Fast + Epp, Vancouver, BC, Canada

Brock Commons is an 18‑story mass timber hybrid student residence currently under construction at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. When completed in the summer of 2017, it will be the tallest mass timber hybrid building in the world at 53 meters high.
