Exploring the topic of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for a unique structure design? The standalone program RWIND Simulation simulates wind flow in a numerical wind tunnel around all structure types. Import the generated wind loads directly to RFEM for design according to the various standards.

Check out this short introductory 2:33 min video. For an in-depth look, this 1 hr webinar will showcase the full program workflow. Download your 30-day RWIND trial today.

CSA S16:19 Stability Considerations and the New Annex O.2

Structure stability is not a new phenomenon when referring to steel design. The Canadian steel design standard CSA S16 and the most recent 2019 release is no exception. Detailed stability requirements can be addressed with either the Simplified Stability Analysis Method in Clause 8.4.3 or, new to the 2019 standard, the Stability Effects in Elastic Analysis method in Annex O.

P‑Delta Effects and Seismic Design According to the ASCE 7‑16 and NBC 2015

As gravity loads act on a structure, lateral displacement occurs. In turn, a secondary overturning moment is generated as the gravity load continues to act on the elements in the laterally displaced position. This effect is also known as "P-Delta (Δ)." Sect. of the ASCE 7-16 Standard and the NBC 2015 Commentary specify when P-Delta effects should be considered during a modal response spectrum analysis.
