Hello,

We've rolled out some exciting new features in the last few weeks at Dlubal Software. This includes the addition of the CSA O86:14 design standard in the RF-LAMINATE add-on module for cross-laminated timber (CLT) structures.

We've also debuted the release of our new standalone program RWIND Simulation. Simulate wind flow in a numerical wind tunnel on buildings or other specialty structures. Import the generated wind loads directly to your RFEM or RSTAB model for analysis consideration.

RWIND Simulation

Specialty structures with unique geometry are typically exluded in wind design standards. RWIND Simulation allows the import of an RFEM or RSTAB model to simulate wind loads in a numerical wind load tunnel based on a varying wind profile by height.

Results include graphical wind pressure, velocity, vectors, and flowlines. Also view and save the animated streamlines as a video file. Export the calculated loads back to RFEM/RSTAB for consideration in the full structural analysis.

Take a look at a few short videos of the new program on our YouTube channel.

CSA O86:14 in RF‑LAMINATE

Calculate a stress design and serviceability design according to the CSA O86:14 standard in the add-on module RF-LAMINATE. Import CLT producer products available in the library or create your own composition and save to the library database. Results are available both graphically and in table format including design ratios.

Online Services

Tornado loads according to the ASCE 7-16 were recently added to the Geo-Zone Tool available on the Dlubal website.  Integrated with Google Maps technology, type in the address or select a location on the map to determine the snow, wind, tornado, or seismic loads according to the ASCE 7-16 and 2015 NBCC instantaneously.

Also, a newly added feature includes exporting the load data directly to Microsoft Excel for the specified location with the "save" button.

Purchase a Geo-Zone Tool Package for unrestricted map use.

Timber Beam Design per the 2018 NDS Standard

Using the RF-TIMBER AWC module, timber beam design is possible according to the 2018 NDS standard ASD method. Accurately calculating timber member bending capacity and adjustment factors is important for safety considerations and design.

Balanced and Unbalanced Snow Loads for Curved Roofs According to the ASCE 7‑16

The ASCE 7-16 standard requires both balanced and unbalanced snow load case scenarios for a structure's design consideration. While this may be more intuitive for flat or even gable/hip type roofs, the determination of snow loads is increasingly more difficult for arch roofs due to complex geometry.
